The “S” Word. We say it all the time. We feel it far too often. Sometimes it can seem as though our lives are completely covered in it.
So how can we ensure it doesn’t ‘hit the fan’?
Use these 40 preventative ways to eliminate STRESS from your life, and clean up your act:
- Wake up 30 minutes earlier
- Prepare for the morning the night before
- Wear clothes you know you will be comfortable and confident in
- Don’t rely on chemical stimulants to keep you energized
- Exercise everyday
- Get enough sleep
- Don’t rely on your memory – write it down!
- Set appointments ahead (and record them on your calendar)
- Have spare keys available (and anything else that you need on the go)
- Avoid negative people, situations and thoughts
- Use your time wisely – it’s what life is made of
- Avoid distraction – Try to finish what you start before moving on to something else
- Organize your files (physical and digital) so everything is easily accessible when you need it
- Say ‘no’ more often
- Anticipate needs (yours and others) and plan ahead
- Fix broken things (things that you fight with time after time)
- Replace old things (makeup, toiletries, supplies, etc.)
- Always have a ‘Plan B’
- Practice preventative maintenance (implement some of the things on this list today!)
- Learn to delegate – Ask for help with the jobs you dislike or won’t get done
- Break large tasks into bite size portions
- Look at problems as challenges
- Look at challenges differently
- Declutter your life
- Smile, smile, smile
- Be prepared for rain and snow
- Don’t know all the answers
- Always look for the silver lining
- Schedule play time into EVERYDAY
- Take a bubble bath
- Practice breathing slowly and deeply
- Quit a bad habit
- Practice moderation – Eliminate excessiveness
- Stand up and stretch
- Learn to fulfill your own needs where you currently are not
- Know and honor your limitations
- Clean out your car
- Remember that stress is an attitude
- Remember that you always have a choice
